Tomorrow, July 20th, Kaikoma is participating in providing some young Shimizu kids the chance to go sailing. After visiting a friend in Hakone this afternoon, I drove to Shimizu and looked across the marina to see a Giant Cruiser towering above everything else in the harbor..​

​Summertime in Japan brings summer festivals including the Obon Matsuri. The photo below shows a huge number of people coming together to dance to the drumming of taiko as they practice for the main event coming up later in a few weeks. These are individuals from different communities each of which has their particular style of yukata.
